At a time when everyone is boasting about Baahubali’s success at the box-office, Aamir Khan starrer film Dangal has been re-released in China and is giving a tough competition to SS Rajamouli film. We all know Baahubali 2: The Conclusion ever since it has been released has already crossed Rs 1000-crore mark worldwide. However, Dangal re-release in China is not far behind.
Aamir Khan’s Dangal, the sports biopic became the highest grossing Indian movie in China, broke PK’s records and has made more than $18 million (Rs 116 crore) in less than five days. It is said Aamir Khan became popular in China especially after the release of “3 Idiots” in Chinese version. And now with the success of Dangal, it shows Aamir Khan’s popularity in the country.
As per reports, Dangal has earned Rs 121.73 crore at the global box-office and is inching towards Rs 900 crore mark worldwide. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, ‘#Dangal hits the ball out of the park... Collects a FANTABULOUS $ 11.30 million [₹ 72.68 cr] in its opening weekend in China... OUTSTANDING!”
On the other hand, Baahubali 2 has already earned Rs 111 crore and became the highest-grossing Indian movie at the US box-office. SS Rajamouli’s film has already earned over Rs 1000 crore in the first 10 days of it release. According to the movie critics, Baahubali 2 is yet to release at the Chinese-box office and the first part – Baahubali: The Beginning has not created much business earning just 4.5 million Yuan in the opening weekend, much less than Dangal’s 80.56 million Yuan collections.
Baahubali 2 has earned huge collections in other countries as well including, Australia and New Zealand surpassing Dangal’s records. As the Chinese film market finds a wider audience of Indian movies, it remains to be seen how Baauhbali 2 will make a mark once it releases there. Baahubali: The Conclusion star cast includes Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan as lead roles.
