The biggest tax reform since independence has launched in India. We all remember the tryst with destiny, however, this day will be remembered as Tryst with GST. The GST launch took place at the Central Hall of Parliament. PM Narendra Modi Launched GST at the stroke of midnight on Friday and Saturday, by the mark of a gong. The national anthem followed. PM Modi simplified the term as ‘good and simple tax’ and further added, “The road we have chosen, this is not just one party's doing, this is not just one government's work. This is a joint effort." Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, “It will create one tax, one market for one nation. It will be an India which will write a new destiny.”
In simple terms, GST is a tax that will be levied on every value addition.

Arun Jaitley explained the positive aspect of GST and said,"We wanted to ensure that the common man and the poor man is not affected. We have ensured revenue neutrality and no unnecessary burden on the weaker sections Tax avoidance will now be difficult, rates will come down, and GDP (gross domestic production) will grow."
