Veteran actor and politician Vinod Khanna has passed away at the age of 70. The actor had been battling with cancer long recently.
The actor made his debut in 1968 with 'Man Ka Meet'. Khanna has starred in more than 100 films in a career spanning more than five decades He has given us some of the best performances in films like 'Mere Apne', 'Mera Gaon Mera Desh', 'Imitihaan', 'Inkaar', 'Amar Akbar Anthony', 'Lahu ke Do Rang", "Qurbani", "Dayavaan" and "Jurm". His made his last appearance in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 2015 film "Dilwale".
He was recently admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and breathed his last at 11.20 am as he was suffering from bladder carcinoma (bladder cancer).
The veteran actor was married twice and is survived by his wife Kavita Khanna and two sons. Actors Akshaye Khanna, Rahul Khanna from his first marriage to Gitanjali in 1971. The other two children, Sakshi and Shradha from his second marriage to Kavita in 1991.
Khanna also had a successful career in politics; Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) party member and LoK Sabha candidate from the Gurdaspur constituency in Punjab. He was perhaps one of the first actors from Bollywood industry to have joined politics, in 1997.
