Muslims around the world are celebrating Eid Al-Fitr 2017. PM Modi on Sunday extended greetings to the nation through his monthly radio program, Mann Ki Baat. "The holy month of Ramzan was celebrated with devotion. Now it is time for Eid. On the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, my best wishes to all," Modi greeted. According to Islamic belief, in the month of Ramadan Muslims around the world refrain from consuming food, drink and offer prayers and recitations of the Quran from Sunrise to sunset every day.

Eid Al-Fitr is also known as 'Sweet Eid' because of a variety of sweet dishes consumed on this festival. The most famous dishes are Sheer Khurma, Cham Cham, Barfi and Gulab Jamun.

On the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, Muslims around the world thank Allah for giving them strength and endurance during Ramadan.

On the auspicious occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, charity is given to the poor and the term is known as Zakat Al-Fitr. Muslims around the world also exchange gifts and greeting cards with friends and family.

The Eid Prayer is very special as it different from the regular prayer known as Adhaan and can be done anytime between the Ishraq (Dawn) and Zawal (midday) prayers.
