The Indian summer is back with the ever-entertaining Indian Premier League but this time with great performances and some injuries. Let's review how was the past 1 week- The fan following of IPL season 10
It has always been a mindset that the crowds make every IPL season successful, and this time also there was no denying. There is an increase the popularity of the league, which comes with a mix of cricket, Bollywood.
This year the scenario has changed as the crowd was gasping for some shortest format of cricket (high-intensity Test cricket has been played since 6 months). So, it won’t be wrong to say the league is gaining popularity and momentum as it is moving ahead.
1. Shining player- Rashid Khan
Sunrisers Hyderabad is taking forward the season from where they’d left last season with the perfect addition of getting more fearsome. Their bowling was always one of the best in the group but with Rashid Khan, Dhawan, Yuvraj and Henriques shining this season, they are the team to take the legacy forward.
This time KKR has Bravo and Jadeja make the team work, but Chris Lynn will always be missed. While Kolkata is reasonably, keen to entrust Chris Woakes with liability and to give him the best potential opening to fill the Russell-sized gap in their batting order they should be cautious of overlooking substitute options to attain that purpose. Sunil Narine has evolved into an outstanding lower-order hitter newly and could be better harvested.
Mumbai sees a new breed of T20 batsman lined up including Nitish Rana and Hardik Pandya. Rana’s innings v Kolkata and Hardik’s v Pune and Kolkata were brilliant. Their form gives Mumbai debatably the deepest and most influential batting order in the IPL season so far.
Mumbai has a strong hold of three all-rounder bats man ( Pandya brothers and Pollard) and it is promising enough to change the whole game.
The team already paying for its weakness for good bowlers in the team and it seems that other team has identified the weak point. Pune must resolve this crisis if they are to stand a sensible chance of making the top four. This year, with a clear batting arrangement, their top batsman order is better matched to batting first than last season.
The superman of Cricket dishes out superb performance to outsmart RCB but it went into vain. AB de Villiers returned from a back injury but he made Kings XI Punjab dance with joy after hitting smashing 89 runs off 46 balls. Bangalore team has made four major team changes after their opening match defeat to Hyderabad. While the decisions were justified by triumph against Delhi, such extensive changes after one match are only likely to puzzle roles in the team.
So far so good. We hope to see more sweat and runs on the pitch in the coming days.
