No one had predicted Sri Lanka would win against mighty India. Experts, commentators and senior players and Indian fans were confident India would seal their place in semi-final after the superb performance against Pakistan in the last game. But it was Sri Lanka’s day as they won their first game in the ongoing ICC Champions trophy. Batting first, India were able to put up 321 runs on the board. Sri Lanka displayed terrific performance to chase the target of 322 runs.
It was the highest successful chase in the ICC champions Trophy. It was also India’s first Champions trophy defeat since 2009. Last time, India lost against Pakistan in 2009 when MS Dhoni was captain. India will now have to beat South Africa in the next game on Sunday.
