It may sound weird for you, but actually, now you can put a ring on yourself! It is also seen as an affirmation of your self-esteem. There is a proper pledge to seal your love for yourself, one can simply pledge- saying, "Alright, I'll take your outmoded tradition, your patriarchal road to ruin, and I'll make it about myself in every single way."
Women are the biggest takers of this new trend!
Call them POWER PUFF women or followers of SELF LOVE, but this marriage trend is definitely something to be proud of. You don’t have to wait for your Mr. or Ms. Right to come along, instead make things right on your own way!
Self-marriage is just not a ceremony but also a Movement
You choose yourself above others, and obviously, it’s not an easy decision to take. But people have actually done it! It may sound small to you but the movement is actually causing action in places like Canada, where a service called Marry Yourself Vancouver launched this past summer, offering consulting services and wedding photography.
Even in Japan, a successful website called as I Married Me, offers you a chance to buy yourself a DIY marriage kit: For $50, you get a sterling silver ring, ceremony instructions, vows, and 24 “ affirmation cards” to remind you of your vows over time.
Self-styled Sologaist Erika Anderson coined the trend
Erika was too annoyed by the peer pressure of marriage, so threw herself a grand marriage party and pampered herself with a white gown, invited her close friends and family married herself in a legally nonbinding way. The people, of course, had to respond to this. From tagging single friends, teasing them this is what they will end up doing, to calling this out as a mockery.
Well, it will be interesting to see India’s reaction to the new marriage trend! Don’t forget to share your opinion with us!
